Javier has been having a recurring nightmare of being trapped in a strange house looking for something, but he always wakes up before he can remember what it is. His mother gives him a cross to hang over his bed to get rid of the dream, and when he reluctantly decides to put it up, he discovers that the wall above his bed has been re-plastered. Inside the wall, he finds a box that contains tape recordings from Lucía, a woman who has been dead for 30 years.
